I am as ordinary as anyone can be, but I have gotten to see God do extraordinary things.
In more than forty years as a Christian, I have seen many people who have had God touch them with something miraculous. Maybe it was a prophetic word with dazzling accuracy; maybe it was a healing; maybe it was something entirely unexplainable, like the multiplying of money. I have experienced all of these things myself.
And here’s where the lifestyle comes in. Many people experience these things and allow them to become a memory – “the day when God touched me” – and they see it as the exception to the way God usually works. But a few people seem to recognize these events as samples of what they can have in everyday life, and they commit themselves to a lifestyle that will make room for a steady stream of the supernatural works of God.
Do you want an experience or a lifestyle? Jesus said that if we believe, rivers of living water will flow out of us – rivers, not cupfuls.
That’s what this blog is about. Whether we’ve seen the great or small miracles, we’re hungry for more and want to do whatever it takes to position ourselves for them.
That said, who do I think I am, to write about these things?
The answer is simple. I have been a Christian for more than forty years and have sought the gifts of the Spirit that whole time. I was a pastor for 17 years; there I not only moved in the gifts of the Spirit myself but also trained the members of the church to move in the gifts themselves. This means I got to see what can go right – and what can go wrong – where the rubber meets the road.
Further, I have been a Bible teacher for more than 30 years. Every speaker seems to have a life-message, and mine has always been Christ in you. I am hooked on grace and on keeping Jesus at the center of our lives.
Christ in you is the key to every gift. Ephesians 1:3 says God has already given you every spiritual blessing in heavenly places in Christ.
I believe God’s promise. For about ten years, the prophets kept giving me the same word: that I was like Abraham, a man who would have many children, and that they would surpass me.
Have others seen greater works of God than I have? Certainly. I don’t claim to be the greatest or the most gifted in the body of Christ. Quite the contrary; I’ve always thought of myself as one who is ordinary. If God has done as much as He has for me, I know He can and will for you.
So with the online school of the Spirit, with articles on this and other blogs, and with workshops conducted live in churches, I’m doing everything I can to stir up your gifts. It’s not just a matter of having an exciting weekend every so often; it’s a matter of cultivating a lifestyle. God wants to give you a steady flow. That’s why I call this blog The Miracle Lifestyle.
