A note From Stan Smith…
For several decades I’ve pastored and traveled in ministry, preaching, teaching, prophesying, moving in other gifts of the Spirit, ministering in prophetic song. Then, about a year ago I was forced to change tactics.
I won’t write the medical details here, but I faced brain surgery last February to remove a large tumor, and have been in follow-up radiation, chemotherapy, and other treatments ever since. Air travel won’t be possible again until I reach the end of my treatments.
While cooped up at home, I’ve explored ministry opportunities on the internet. I’ve posted a free 31-day devotional, “Learn To Hear From God”. It’s a blend of articles, action steps, and video testimonies. See it at http://www.squidoo.com/31-day-devotional-learn-to-hear-from-god. Or follow the links on our website, www.gospelsmith.com.
I’m very grateful to those who have sent encouragement and/or financial support. People all over the world have been praying for me, and the God of grace has been answering. Thanks for your prayers and your love.
Why this confinement?
God rarely explains our seasons to us – it’s best to trust Him and keep following. Understanding usually comes later.
But it occurs to me that this season of having few pulpit opportunities gives me a chance to live in the world most Christians live in. Can I find ministry opportunities outside the church? Jesus did, and so can you and I.
I’ll be augmenting the 31-day devotional, “Learn To Hear From God”, with articles and testimonies in this blog.
I was asked to speak in a home group, to share about moving into the prophetic. They’ve asked me to come back in a few days, so I gave them the assignment in the “Online School” page: to edify, exhort, or comfort five people a week. See the assignment at http://www.squidoo.com/learn-to-hear-from-God-day-30 — I told the group I’d ask for testimonies next time we meet.
I’ll share their stories as well as my own in this blog. But in the end, it isn’t about us – it’s all about you. God will speak to you and empower you. He will lead you into ministry opportunities, whether inside or outside the church.
